DIY Customizing

How to Customize your own Cornhole Boards

We offer three stained finishes on our boards: Heritage, Blonde and Rebel. This is a pretty cool look by themselves but it can be cooler by adding some color or graphics. If you want to add paint, you need to first roughen the surface using Scotchbryte pads (the green abrasive kind) and wipe clean using IPA. Just make sure there is no hand grease or dust.

There are a few types of paint you can use. Acrylic and latex paints works good. As long as the surface is dull and clean it will stick.

Next you should add a clear polycrylic coat or two. Go with gloss. If you don't have a sprayer, then go with a foam roller. Use a 6 inch foam roller. When rolling, make sure you have to roller sufficiently wet. Dry rollers will leave bubbles.

I recommend testing on the back side of the boards. The back side is a little rough but a light sand will smooth it. Add some acrylic paint and then brush or roll on the clear coat. Let it dry for a day. The next day you should be able to scratch it with a coin. If you notice peeling then something is wrong.
